DTC ecommerce fulfillment

Fulfillment that keeps up with your brand.

As your ecommerce business grows, fulfillment can quickly become one of the most time-consuming parts of running your company. Receiving inventory, organizing SKUs, printing orders, picking products, packing boxes, buying shipping labels, handling address issues, updating tracking, processing returns, and keeping inventory accurate all take time away from actually growing your brand.

One Way Fulfillment handles that process for you. From our fulfillment operation in Franklin, Tennessee, we provide hands-on DTC fulfillment for growing ecommerce brands throughout the United States. Whether you're shipping hundreds or thousands of orders per month, our team can build a fulfillment process around your products, packaging, sales channels, and customer experience.

What is DTC fulfillment?

Everything that happens after your customer places an order.

Your online store sends the order to our warehouse. Our team picks the correct products from inventory, verifies the order, packs it according to your requirements, selects the appropriate shipping service, creates the shipping label, and gets the package moving to your customer. Tracking information is then returned to the applicable sales channel.

Instead of maintaining your own warehouse, hiring a fulfillment team, purchasing equipment, negotiating carrier relationships, and spending every afternoon packing orders, you can outsource that operation to One Way Fulfillment.

More than pick and pack

A lot happens between receiving an order and the customer's front door.

Order processing

Orders from your connected sales channels flow into our warehouse management system for fulfillment. Our team monitors orders throughout the business day and works through exceptions that may prevent an order from shipping normally.

Picking

Your products are organized inside our warehouse by SKU. When an order is ready for fulfillment, our team picks the required inventory based on the order information received from your store.

Order verification

Accuracy is extremely important. Depending on the account and order type, we can implement additional verification procedures for orders with multiple SKUs, higher-value products, or other special requirements.

Packing

Products are packed according to your brand's requirements. That can be as simple as placing a product into a poly mailer or involve multiple products, inserts, custom boxes, branded tape, protective packaging, and specific packing instructions.

Shipping

Once packed, the shipment is weighed, measured when required, and assigned an appropriate shipping service. We work with major carriers including UPS, FedEx, and USPS.

Tracking

Once an order ships, tracking information can flow back to supported ecommerce platforms so your customer can follow their shipment.

Same-day fulfillment

Customers don't want to wait days for their order to leave the warehouse.

Speed matters in ecommerce. One Way Fulfillment is built around getting eligible orders moving quickly. For qualifying accounts, eligible DTC orders received before the applicable daily cutoff can be processed the same business day.

If your company has specific marketplace requirements, product launches, flash sales, or other fulfillment needs, we can discuss a customized workflow.

Shopify fulfillment

Take fulfillment off your Shopify to-do list.

Shopify brands are a major part of what we do. Once your Shopify store is connected to our fulfillment system, orders can automatically flow into our warehouse operation. Our team handles the physical fulfillment while your Shopify store remains the center of your ecommerce business.

We can help manage:

  • Standard Shopify orders
  • Multi-item orders
  • Multiple SKUs and variants
  • Custom packaging
  • Inventory
  • Tracking updates
  • Order changes
  • Cancellations
  • Returns
  • Replacement orders
  • Promotional inserts

This gives your team more time to focus on marketing, customer acquisition, product development, and growing your brand.

TikTok Shop fulfillment

Be ready when a video takes off.

TikTok Shop can create massive opportunities for consumer brands. It can also create fulfillment problems very quickly. A successful video, creator campaign, or promotion can generate a sudden spike in orders. Your fulfillment operation needs to be ready for it.

One Way Fulfillment can support TikTok Shop brands with inventory storage, order fulfillment, shipping, tracking, and multi-channel inventory operations. For brands selling on both Shopify and TikTok Shop, we can help bring fulfillment into one warehouse operation rather than managing separate processes.

Multi-channel fulfillment

Your customers may not all shop in the same place.

That's why our fulfillment operation isn't built around a single sales channel. Depending on your setup, we can support sales from platforms including:

  • Shopify
  • Amazon
  • TikTok Shop
  • Walmart
  • Etsy
  • WooCommerce
  • and more

If you sell through multiple channels, talk with our team about the best way to structure your fulfillment operation.

Custom packaging

Your customer experience doesn't stop at checkout.

The package arriving at your customer's door is part of your brand. We can work with your existing packaging or help you explore new packaging options. Depending on your account, this may include:

  • Custom poly mailers
  • Standard poly mailers
  • Bubble mailers
  • Custom boxes
  • Standard shipping boxes
  • Branded tape
  • Product inserts
  • Thank-you cards
  • Promotional cards
  • Protective packaging
  • Tissue
  • Stickers
  • Custom labels

If you're trying to reduce packaging costs, we can also review your current packaging and explore alternatives. The goal is to balance presentation, protection, shipping cost, and efficiency.

Shipping cost optimization

The cheapest fulfillment fee doesn't matter if you're overpaying for shipping.

Shipping can represent a significant portion of an ecommerce company's fulfillment expense. Package dimensions, weight, destination, service level, and carrier can all affect the final cost.

We work with multiple carriers and shipping services rather than treating every shipment exactly the same. Depending on your operation, we can evaluate shipping options from UPS, FedEx and USPS. Our goal is to find the right balance between cost, speed, reliability, and your customer's expectations.

We can also review packaging dimensions, because sometimes reducing the size of a package can create meaningful shipping savings over thousands of orders.

Inventory management

Know what you have before you sell it.

Inventory accuracy is critical. When products arrive at our warehouse, our team receives them into our warehouse management system and organizes the inventory for fulfillment. Depending on your operation, receiving may include:

  • Carton counts
  • Unit counts
  • SKU verification
  • Product inspection
  • Pallet receiving
  • Serial number recording
  • Inventory updates
  • Damage reporting
  • Product organization

Once received, inventory is stored based on the size, quantity, and velocity of the product.

Returns and replacements

Returns shouldn't turn into a pile of mystery boxes in the corner.

We can build a return process based on your company's requirements. When an item comes back, our team can:

  • Receive the return
  • Identify the customer or order
  • Inspect the product
  • Determine its condition
  • Restock sellable inventory
  • Separate damaged inventory
  • Repackage products when appropriate
  • Ship replacements
  • Follow your company's specific return SOP

For products requiring additional inspection or cleaning, we can discuss customized return procedures.

Order exceptions

Not every order goes according to plan.

Customers enter incorrect addresses. Products get damaged. Packages get returned. Carriers lose shipments. Customers change orders. Inventory gets delayed. That's part of ecommerce.

The difference is how quickly those problems get addressed. Our team works directly with clients to resolve fulfillment issues and determine the appropriate next step.

High-volume and promotional orders

Who is One Way built for?

Brands where fulfillment is becoming a distraction from growth.

You may be a good fit if:

  • You're shipping approximately 500+ orders per month.
  • Your order volume is increasing.
  • You're running out of space.
  • You're spending too much time packing orders.
  • You're hiring employees just to keep up with shipping.
  • You're selling through multiple channels.
  • You need better shipping rates.
  • You're frustrated with your current 3PL.
  • You need more customization than your current warehouse allows.
  • You need someone you can actually call when there's a problem.
Switching from another 3PL?

Moving doesn't have to be a nightmare.

Changing fulfillment companies can seem overwhelming, especially when thousands of units are sitting inside another warehouse. We've worked with companies transitioning inventory and can help build a move plan around your operation. A transition may involve:

  1. Reviewing your current inventory
  2. Confirming SKUs and quantities
  3. Planning the inventory transfer
  4. Coordinating freight
  5. Receiving inventory into our warehouse
  6. Connecting your sales channels
  7. Setting up packaging and fulfillment rules
  8. Testing orders
  9. Beginning fulfillment

For larger moves, inventory can potentially be transferred in stages to reduce disruption.

Why outsource fulfillment?

There's a point where packing orders yourself stops being the best use of your time.

Think about everything required to operate your own fulfillment operation:

  • Warehouse space
  • Employees
  • Payroll
  • Workers' comp
  • Packing stations
  • Shelving
  • Equipment
  • Packaging inventory
  • Shipping software
  • Carrier pickups
  • Returns
  • Inventory management
  • Training
  • Quality control
  • Weekend volume
  • Peak-season staffing

And someone has to manage all of it. Outsourcing fulfillment allows your team to focus its attention on growing the company instead.

Why One Way Fulfillment?

Direct communication

You shouldn't have to submit a ticket every time you have a question. We're intentionally hands-on with our clients.

Flexible operations

Brands aren't identical. If your product requires a unique process, we'll look at how we can build it.

Multiple services under one roof

DTC fulfillment is only one part of what we offer. We can also support Amazon preparation, wholesale fulfillment, kitting, assembly, light manufacturing like bottle filling, returns, inbound freight and customs, freight coordination, device provisioning, labeling, repacking, and special projects.

Built for growing brands

We're building One Way alongside the brands we serve. What works at 500 orders per month may not work at 5,000. Our goal is a relationship that can evolve as your company grows.
